We have seen so many nice bucks in the past few weeks, and had some close calls, without getting a shot off. Finally everything cam together and it turned out to be a nice one. The entire CCW staff has had a great time this week. All of the guys from NC have been hunting hard and having fun. Adam Patterson from China Grove , NC arrowed a nice 11pt last night and we recovered this morning. What a great deer. Congrats to Adam and the entire group!!!!!
It has been a great past two weeks for opportunities at CCW. We have had six pope and young bucks shot. The bad news is that we have only recovered 3. Sometimes bow hunting can be tough and you have to roll with the punches. This week the breaks did not fall our way as we had two nice bucks shot, one estimated over 150″+, and could not recover either one. Hopefully the buzzards will help us, if not we all hope that the bucks will recover and give another hunter a chance either this season or next. The rut is still going on as we see bucks chasing does daily. Fresh scrapes are being worked, and bucks are cruising with their noses to the ground. With a little more luck we should get some good ones down this week.

Andrew Jones from Georgia closed the deal on a hefty 9 point tonight. (10-21-2009). This is Andrews first bow buck and largest whitetail to date with any weapon!!! Congrats to Andrew. Tonight we had two bucks shot. The first was a mature 6, taken by Steve Cirucci. Steve hunted with us last season and never had the chance to close the deal. He made up for it this year by putting a perfect shot on this bruiser. The buck only ran 30-40 yards. Ben Chism shot another buck that will be tracked in the morning. We are keeping our fingers crossed. New Rubs are popping up daily, and hunters are reporting bucks starting to bump does around , even though its early. Congrats to Steve!!!! Nice Buck. CCW had a blast this week with a great group of guys from Maine. Several shooters were seen with close calls throughout the week………thats bow hunting. On the last night of the hunt, Jason Beever closed the deer on an older, mature 9 pt. Congrats to Jason, his best buck with a bow to date, and thanks to the entire crew from Maine!!! This past week was the opener for CCW. Prior obligations would not allow us to hunt any sooner. It has all worked out well as the weather cooled off and hunters did not have to fight mosquitos for the most part. What a roller coaster of a week. We had a special guest, Toby Nugent, this week. Toby and his friend John Blank (A world class wildlife carver and painter), came down from MI with friends and family to enjoy some W. Kentucky hunting. Tuesday night Toby and his camera man had an encounter with a true giant. This 165″+ whitetail was a sight to behold. Hopefully we will have some of the video footage on the www within a couple of weeks. Two hunters this week have had close encounters with 140″+ bucks in addition to the monster.
